Sofia, a new Italian restaurant, to open in the Warehouse District

A new Italian restaurant will open this fall in the Warehouse District.

New Orleans restaurateur Billy Blatty and the Denver-based Culinary Creative Group will open Sofia at 516 Julia St., adjacent to the recently opened Auction House Market.

The owners announced the collaboration this week and said the new eatery will be a modern Italian restaurant.

Blatty has been involved with a number of local restaurant and bar operations, including Barcadia, Belle’s Diner and Ohm Lounge, among others. Culinary Creative Group’s chef Max Mackissock, Katie O’Shea and Juan Padro are behind several Denver-area restaurants including Senor Bear, Bar Dough, Highland and Sloan’s Lake Tap, and Burger.

Mackissock will design a menu, which “will be rooted in Italian ingredients and culinary traditions, highlighted by the Gulf of Mexico’s incredible bounty of seafood,” according to a press release. There will be house-made pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and roasted meats.
