New Italian Spot, Sofia, Finds a Home in the Warehouse District

The new Auction House Market in the Warehouse District is getting a neighbor: Sofia restaurant will open next door in late 2018 with Italian staples like wood-fired pizzas and pastas, plus roasted meats and Gulf seafood.

Former Ampersand (a popular New Orleans nightclub in the early aughts) and current Barcadia, Belle’s Diner, and Ohm Lounge owner, Billy Blatty, is opening the restaurant with Denver’s Culinary Creative Group, which includes chef Max Mackissock and partners Katie O’Shea and Juan Padro. The Denver group owns Señor Bear,Bar Dough, Highland and Sloan’s Lake Tap and Burger restaurants, and the forthcoming Morin.

If the name Señor Bear sounds familiar, it’s because it just popped up at Blatty’s Ohm Lounge as part of the Top Taco festival this past week.

Blatty is also opening Bohemia, according to a press release. Eater NOLA has reached out for more information about Bohemia, but nothing was immediately available.
